Focus Pocus! The Magic of Lady Gaga

Focus Pocus! The Magic of Lady Gaga

I think Lady Gaga is an incredible Goddess who creates amazing magick.

She has created and manifested an extraordinary life, and what is the purpose of magick if not to create the life we want — love, success, health, prosperity, and the ability to move beyond these with the ability to give charity to others? Read the rest of this entry

Witch and Famous

Witch and Famous

Famous Witches Who Never Made It Out of the Broom Closet

Okay, time for a little witchy fun. We all know that Hollywood has created some really OFFENSIVE Witches – characters that have nothing to do with true Witches or witchcraft, but how about the good Hollywood Witches? We`re all familiar with Hermione, Sabrina, The Charmed Ones, Glinda, and Samantha… but what about all those characters who never made it out of the broom closet? I love these characters. For one reason or another, they have had a positive impact on humankind, but Hollywood NEVER actually called them “WITCHES” – Judge for yourself! Read the rest of this entry

Samhain and the Goddess

Samhain and the Goddess

The blood which runs in us is born of the blood of our Earthly Mother. Her blood… babbles in the brooks of the mountains; flows wide in the rivers of the plains; sleeps in the lakes; rages mightily in tempestuous seas.

These are words from a third century Aramaic manuscript that were translated by Edmond Bordeaux Szekely. The texts go on to say that the air we breathe is born of the breath of our Earthly Mother… the hardness of our bones is born of the rocks and of the stones, the tenderness of our flesh is born of the flesh of the fruits of our Earthly Mother. September

September

September is an illusion. The energy of the God and all the glory of Summer is still in the air, the sun is still warm, and yet the Goddess in the form of Autumn is knocking on Summer`s door. The earth is ripe with fruits calling for a release from their vines.

And so it is with us. We have worked, played, and lived hard all year. We`ve made resolutions and worked to achieve them. Some plans have turned out like we wanted. Some have not.

Think back to any plans or goals from the beginning of the year. Are there parts of your life that need letting go like fruit that needs to drop from the vine? Are there relationships that no longer serve you? Are there goals that no longer interest you?

Letting go of things that no longer serve you

allows you to have more positive energy

for the things that do.

Scotty McCreery, Lady Gaga, and the 4th of July

Scotty McCreery, Lady Gaga, and the 4th of July

Could there be anything more American than Scotty McCreery winning American Idol? He exemplifies the American Dream, and his dark chocolate voice is absolutely gorgeous.

And:

Could there be anything more American than Lady Gaga shooting to stardom in the time it takes her little monsters to do a term paper?

There are so many different kinds of people in our country. There are big differences and little differences. Some differences are easy to rattle off: ethnicity, religion, and politics. There are smaller differences: musical tastes, fashion, and even differences in diet. But the best example I have seen about differences in Americans is definitely American Idol. From One Witch To Another: Enjoy Your Fantasies!

From One Witch To Another: Enjoy Your Fantasies!

Lots of people think their dreams are nothing more than just that: dreams. What if your so-called dreams are really divinely inspired goals? I think they are. An interesting fact:  If you write down your goals, you are far more likely to achieve them. Fantasies can rattle around in your head, incubate, and grow. The simple act of writing your fantasies down makes them become goals. Here comes the fun part: After you write your goals down, create a spell and do ritual to solidify your pact with yourself to make them come true! During ritual, I love to meditate with Tarot cards and use them to make my visualization stronger. Want a new relationship? Use the Lovers card. Do you have a goal of becoming more healthy, working out, losing weight, etc.? Use the World card to visualize bursting through self-imposed barriers. In short – have a fantasy? Make it become a reality by writing it down, and then use ritual and visualization to seal the deal.

Blessed be!

From One Witch To Another: Archetypes

From One Witch To Another: Archetypes
“The Gods are real, not as persons, but as vehicles of power. Briefly, it may be explained that the personification of a particular type of cosmic power in the form of a God or Goddess, carried out by believers and worshippers over many centuries, builds that God-form or Magical Image into a potent reality on the Inner Planes, and makes it a means by which that type of cosmic power may be contacted.” These are the words of Gerald Gardner. It could easily have been Jung who said this, referring to gods and goddesses as archetypes – unconscious aspects of who we are that are discovered through art, music, and myth. Even Jung’s ideas dated back to ancient Athens, so the idea of love, for instance, being embodied in the goddess Aphrodite and her art and mythos is actually a manifestation of our human need to visualize the concept of Love. Thankfully we can let go of this concept during ritual which takes us back to Gardner stating that the Goddess is a potent reality. I have said that this is also true of magical tools and symbols. Religious symbols (pentacles, crosses, etc.) have no power of themselves; it is our imprinting over centuries that creates the power.
Enjoy your power!
Blessed be,
Sally

From One Witch To Another: Imbolc

From One Witch To Another: Imbolc

Greetings! Imbolc arrives February 2nd. It is traditionally a time of cleansing and purification, and it is a time of rediscovering Light after winter. Also called Candlemas, Imbolc is a Gaelic word which refers to the return of milk to the ewes as Spring will soon arrive. Milk is said to be a gift of the Goddess Brigid, whom we celebrate on this day. Imbolc is an incredibly beautiful Sabbat; using candles for healing, visualization, and blessings creates a wide-eyed awe as we bring back the Light and the days grow a little longer. Imbolc is also Ground Hog Day, a form of weather divination which we can see mirrored in old limericks and couplets. A Scottish example: “If Candlemas Day is Bright and Clear, There’ll be two winters in the year.” Wishing you a beautiful Imbolc.

Blessed be,

From One Witch To Another: Make it so!

From One Witch To Another: Make it so!

So, here we are… JANUARY! Maybe on the first of the month you took out your old resolutions. You know the ones. These are the same resolutions you had last year, and maybe even the year before (and maybe the year before that!). You dusted off those resolutions, shook them out, examined them, and thought, ‘Hey! These would work perfectly for THIS year too.’ Count me in… I’ve done it too. I like to think that simply making them enables me to inch forward, keeping a better idea of ‘me’ in my head, working toward my goals. So, what can make this year different? For one, don’t make resolutions. No, I’m serious. Don’t do it! Especially if they’re the same resolutions from last year. It reinforces that resolutions don’t work. Instead, create who you want to be in your mind’s eye. How do you want to look? Do you want to be more loving? Do you want to have more money? Do you want to give more? Do you want to donate your time and talents? Visualize it… and then put it on your calendar. Here’s another secret – I really like Star Trek Next Gen. I wouldn’t call myself a “Trekkie”, but it’s an fun metaphysical show that I enjoy. Here’s what you do: Pretend your “Higher Self” is Captain Jean-Luc Picard, and the part of you that runs around all day doing things is his “Number One”, Commander Riker.  Every time Captain Picard says, “Make it so!”, Riker does! No matter how hard the task, the job gets done and the universe is saved from oblivion.

So… New you for a new year? Make it so!

Blessed be!
