The Autumnal Equinox is upon us, and the Tarot indicates: Going within and connecting to Source enables us to shine our light more brightly.
How can you connect to this powerful energy?
Each year, September as the 9th month is the time of the Hermit, the ninth card in the Major Arcana. It truly fits in with the finish of summer activity in the Northern Hemisphere, and a more contemplative time. In the Southern Hemisphere, it is a time to consider the lessons and goals derived from the Winter months as you move into Spring.
From a numerology standpoint, we add the year and month, September 2021, and the specific card for September is The Hierophant. Not only is September the Hierophant card, but 2021 is the Year of the Hierophant.
The Hierophant is about transformation and change, and we have been given a double dose to implement what we wanted for ourselves in January of this year.
When we combine the Hierophant with The Hermit, we understand that the best use of this energy is to go within and consider what is important to us. It is interesting to note that The Hermit walks on the top of the mountain, and the light shines far. He illuminates wisdom for others, and perhaps you have wisdom to help others see the way. This could also be in the form of “sharing reality” — knowing that others feel like you during these strange times can definitely lighten the load.
The Hermit also walks on snow, frozen Water element. As our emotions and feelings are represented by the element of Water, and snow is frozen, it seems that emotions are set aside but not gone. They are also set aside gently as part of Nature’s Way. Without snow, we would not have the ice melt necessary to feed the great rivers.
So it is with gratitude that we can use our feelings and emotions; we can be guided by them but not ruled by them. What does this mean? We might feel uncomfortable with something in our lives, and this could bring up uncomfortable emotions. These emotions can tell us to bring in the Hierophant energy of transformation and change. Our emotions help us to move forward and beyond.
This beautiful combination of Hermit and Hierophant can help us to deeply understand what we need, how we can serve, and how to move in that direction.
